Christine and John Mingo celebrate their 25th Wedding Anniversary at The Hilton Waikaloa in May 2011. Yay!

John Mingo started his plumbing career in San Francisco in the early eighties--including working on U.S. Navy ships in Japan. He met me, Christine Hemenway (Mingo), in 1985 and before long we were marrying and daring each other into moving to Papua New Guinea--where we worked for 4 years from 1988 - 1992. In Papua New Guinea, John managed a large plumbing company of sixty plumbers and laborers to build the South Pacific Games Village and an eleven story building in Port Moresby, NCD.

Plumber's Assistant, Daylin and John Mingo, owner of EMERY Plumbing commute to work on the Kona side of the Island.

Coming home to the Bay Area in California, John became a licensed Plumbing Contractor dba EMERY Plumbing in Emeryville, California in 1993 when Kamara was one year old. We had EMERY Plumbing open for nine years in Emeryville specializing as a radiant heat installer and a major Hot Water Heater installer of a dozen Home Depot stores in the Bay Area. We also did a lot of remodel plumbing for homes that had been caught in the Berkeley fire of early nineties. We plumbed the Emeryville Fire Station, installed radiant heat at the Swan's Market co-housing installation in Oakland, California, and did the remodel plumbing for the owner of the Gap Stores mansion near Stanford University.
